HEDC and the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce to Host Ribbon Cutting

HARRISBURG, SD - In continued support of advancement for local development, the Harrisburg Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) and the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce announced the opening of their new collaborative location at 225 N Cliff Ave, Suite 4 in Harrisburg. This strategic move aligns each organization's effort to promote and facilitate growth in the community by bringing together small business development, community advancement, economic growth, and workforce efforts under one roof. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for this Thursday, November 2, at 4:30 p.m. at the new office.

The centralization of these crucial services establishes a robust foundation for ongoing initiatives to enhance the prosperity and well-being of the Harrisburg community. “This new space symbolizes a monumental step forward, encapsulating our commitment to fostering a thriving environment for businesses and residents alike,” stated Adrienne McKeown, the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce board chair.

“HEDC is dedicated to investing time, talent, and treasure in strategic development and economic growth in Harrisburg,” said HEDC board chair, Adam Walsh. “By officing with the Chamber of Commerce, we can work together for consistent and efficient initiatives to continue exceeding expectations. We have seen record growth in population, building permit valuations, and school district enrollment and strive to be a leader in bringing solutions to the opportunities the growth presents.”

In the last two years, the HEDC and Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce appointing Lisa Zens as the Economic Development Director and Carrie Bell as the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, respectively, have helped keep the momentum going. They’ve kept their focus on collaboration and continued growth for Harrisburg. They quickly acknowledge the support and commitment from many individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community, including the City of Harrisburg and the Harrisburg School District.

"The mission of the Chamber is to provide support and opportunity for growth for our members through connection to our businesses and community. With the opening of our new office location along a major thoroughfare, we are better positioned to be a more visible partner in the community and, therefore, better accomplish our mission. We look forward to building connections with Chamber members, prospective members, and community members in our new location,” said Harrisburg Chamber Executive Director Carrie Bell.

The Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting on December 7th at the Meadow Barn in Harrisburg, and the Harrisburg Economic Development Corporation will host their annual meeting at the Meadow Barn in early 2024, with more information to come.
